I’ve lost count of the days since the fires started. Everything we once knew, gone in a blast of heat and ash, leaving only ruin behind. They say we’re lucky to be alive. That could have been us back there in the city. … The city.. Nothing but a ruin now. Rivers of fire flow through the streets, buildings scarred by the heat, or burned away entirely. Whole families swept away as the deadly rivers poured forth from the mountain.<\/p>\n
I think we’re safe enough, for now. At least, safe from the fires raging below. The black, oily air is another matter entirely. Many of our neighbors have developed a nasty cough, some even coughing up blood. They say it’s only a matter of time until we start to feel the same.<\/p>\n
Lucky.. I’m not so sure. We’re here, watching everything we knew be destroyed. We watch each day as our friends and neighbors get sick. We watch, trapped on this mountain peak without food or fresh water. We watch, knowing that we may only have days to live. We watch…<\/p>\n
